Motivation and Focus for Online Entrepreneurs - This Will Change Your Life

Staying focused and motivated is a huge part of success in your life and in your business. You can achieve most anything you want if you keep your eye on the goal and keep moving forward. When it comes to your business, think about exactly what it is that you want, the people you will surround yourself with in order to get there, and what actions you will need to get started with right away. This is a daily process that will move you forward from where you are to closer to where you would like to be.

You may have heard that most people don't get what they want in their life because they do not truly know what they want. I know this was the case with me. Once I sat down and starting writing out a list of what I wanted my life to look like and the things that were important to me, my life began to change. I highly recommend keeping a journal where you can write down your thoughts on a regular basis. Writing everything down is the secret to this strategy.

Surrounding yourself with positive, upbeat and successful people in order to build up your confidence and connections is also crucial to this process. You will find that successful people, no matter what walk of life they come from, stay focused and motivated regularly by reading and spending time with other successful people. It just makes sense that they will be more than willing to help you achieve your goals, as this is what keeps them energized.

Start taking action right away with the activities that will take you closer to where you want to be. In my case it was writing each day, reading as much as possible on my topic, and connecting with other like-minded individuals. Take a close look at what you need to focus on to build your business and change your life. Action takers always achieve more than the people who simply research everything and then move on to the next topic without having done anything at all.

You can see that the steps to success include focusing on what you want, staying motivated to keep on moving forward, and taking deliberate action on the tasks and activities that will bring everything together in your life. Spend some time today writing down your goals and connecting with others to begin your process of focused, motivated action.

Self Motivation and Determination

Motivation is an internal as well as an external asset to many people's success. Other people feed off the energy that one radiates to help one achieve his or her goals. The Internet has provided many channels to make many dreams realities by providing the tools needed to take the necessary steps toward success. Online businesses provide convenience that many people seek to make future plans towards deciding on their career.

Think about the life changing situations that have arisen in your life. They resulted in one of two ways - for the best or for the worst. Self motivation ties us closer to who we really are and how we feel about ourselves. For instance, if a young man believes that he will one day make it to the NFL, there is nothing anyone else can do to take that away from him. However, if someone tells him he can, the drive may not be as intense and there is a chance that the other influences could deter his mind. Knowing what life means to you and setting goals provide an avenue for attaining the achievable. This is why it is important for people to tap into their resources and take advantage of the opportunities that come their way. The Internet has been a great tool to help put me on the right path for establishing a foundation for success. I strive everyday to do little more than I did the day before.

In many cases, success is broken down into different steps or laws that so many people try to follow seeking promising results. Can one's success really be determined through a step-by-step outline? Can one be motivated by someone elses achievements? Knowing someone else's accomplishments provides inspiration to those who also aspire to do great things. The real reward is being able to relate to someone who can show you how to achieve your goals. The biggest barrier for many is not knowing where or how to get started and they lose focus and give up. Ten years later, after experiencing more life situations and challenges, the same person comes back in full force and does well above and beyond what was initially planned in the beginning. In other words, everybody has his or her season when they will learn and become more knowledgeable about their aspirations and then the success follows later on. For some, the success comes early on. For those who aspire to do great things remember to know what you want to do and find out what it takes to get there. When the time comes, everything else will fall in place if you stay with it.

Relationship Development Through Motivation

A little boy was waiting patiently by the door for his Daddy to come home. Finally, in walked Dad. He was tired, stressed and still thinking about the dramas that had unfolded at work earlier that day. The little boy, seeing his Daddy head for his office with briefcase in hand, realized he was in for another lonely night. A few hours later, the boy sneaked into his Dad's office and asked sheepishly, "Daddy, how much money do you make an hour?" His Dad thought, "What a strange question." "Son, if you must know, I make $50 an hour!" The little boy stopped, pondered for a moment and then asked, "Daddy, can I borrow $20?" "$20!" his father scolded, "Forget it, Son, and get to bed. It's way past your bed time!" Later that night, the father noticed the light on in his son's bedroom and was angered to see his boy still up. "It's well after your bed time!" he barked. Seeing a few crumpled-up notes stashed under his son's pillow, he exploded with, "What's this? A few hours ago, you asked me for $20 and you already have $30! What on earth do you need all this money for?" The little boy swallowed hard and said softly, "Daddy, I had hoped that I would have saved up enough money by now to have been able to buy one hour of your time."

Often we are so preoccupied with our other interests we fail to see the gradual deterioration of our valued relationships. A few minor adjustments today may prevent heartache and regret tomorrow. A soul-searching question that may help you pinpoint where your valued relationships are at present is, "If I happened to be my wife, husband, child or children, would I like to have a spouse or parent like me?" If you don't like the answer(s) you receive, make a note why and then use your power of choice to head off those concerns.

A good way to gain awareness on the status of your marriage is to ask your partner, "Is there anything I do right now that annoys you?" Once you ask this question, bite your tongue and hear your spouse out. Another way to avoid a trip to the divorce courts is to reinvent your marriage vows. This time, however, don't aim for "better or for worse" but instead "for better and for better". As boredom leads to frustration, spontaneity and surprises lead back to renewed passion. Do you know that passion can be re-created at any time simply by re-creating the experiences that originally sparked it? Therefore, develop the habit of scheduling your baby sitter every couple of weeks so you and your spouse can enjoy a good-quality movie or meal in solitude - and remember the red roses!

Relationship Goal Suggestions

- If you don't have a family, consider setting a goal to spend more time with loved ones and friends.
- How can you develop a stronger relationship with each of your children?
- Do you need to restore the lines of communication with your children? How?
- What is something special you can do weekly with your family?
- Could you take them out to dinner or to a theme park?
- How about committing to spend one hour a day as quality time with your family?
- How can you show more appreciation for the little things your spouse do which you have been taking for granted?
- What is one thing you can do, starting today, to spice up your relationships?
- Where would you like to take your family for your next Christmas holidays?
- How about taking your parents out to dinner once every couple of months?

There is one other thing I feel strongly about in this area. May I suggest you set aside Sundays wherever possible and spend them as quality time with your family. Even God Himself took one day off! Know more about how to achieve your smart goals now.

Motivation Makes You Believe You Can Achieve Anything!

Many great inventors were ridiculed by the status quo because of their liberal beliefs. His family, of all people, took Marconi, a great inventor of his time, to a psychiatric hospital. Here, he was thoroughly examined. The reason? He announced to the world he believed he could send the human voice through the air, via a system of transmitters and receivers, without wire! They said he was crazy. Of course, this method of communication is a common occurrence today. Even colour pictures are now sent through the air into outer space where they are beamed back to earth via satellites.

As recently as 1950, the Royal Astronomer of Great Britain was asked about the possibility of space travel, to which he replied, "No hope whatsoever, it's an impossibility." When asked whether or not men would ever walk on the surface of the moon, he replied, "Don't you realise a ship would have to accelerate to the speed of seven miles a second just to break out of the earth's gravitational pull? That's impossible!" Notwithstanding, "All things are possible to those who believe!"

As we have discovered, human beings charged with empowering beliefs can accomplish virtually anything, including things others are certain are impossible. This is because belief fortified unlocks the door to expectancy - the birthplace of miracles. In fact, as belief bolsters and evolves into a conviction, it can become strong enough to move a mountain.

Here's how belief works:

Your brain (conscious thoughts) can be compared to the captain of a ship, while your nervous system is like the chief engineer of the same ship who resides down below the waterline. Isn't it true, when the captain of a ship signals the chief engineer in the engine room, "All ahead two-thirds", the chief engineer doesn't question the command by saying, "I think we should go ahead at one-third speed"? While he controls the throttles of those massive engines, he relies solely upon the orders of the captain up on the bridge. So he affirms the command, "Aye, aye, Captain; all ahead two-thirds!" It's the same thing with your mind. First your brain decides, then your nervous system provides. It will not even question the commands it's given; it merely acts according to them.

What sort of commands are you habitually sending to the chief engineer of your ship? "I always screw things up!" "I'll never succeed in my own business." "I'm too dumb." "It's too hard to change when you're my age." "I'm too young, too shy, too bold, too bald, too fat, too skinny, too ugly, too pretty - I could never do it!" How about such nonsensical garbage as, "I am ruined, nobody cares about me", or "I am worthless"?

Consider the ramifications of these direct commands people unwittingly deliver to their inner engineers: "Things never go well for me." "I'm a woman and they never listen to a woman." "My childhood really screwed me up and you can't just walk away from something like that." "I'm nobody." "I'll never get that raise." "I'm just unlucky."

I have a question for you: What sort of beliefs do you currently hold regarding your ability to achieve each of the goals you've just set?

If I could, I would look you square in the eye and tell you right now, "If you don't believe you will achieve them then guess what? You won't!" Why? Simply because your limiting beliefs will sap the energy required to achieve them. If you hold the belief, "I can't quit smoking", or "I can't lose weight", by continuing to confess these self-talk statements, there is no doubt you will find them to be quite correct. Success doesn't come in "cant's" it come in "cans"!

"Whether you believe that you can or whether you believe you can't, you're right!"
- Henry Ford

Simply put, a belief is an emotional state of certainty that brings with it a sense of knowing. My primary point is your beliefs will need to support you if you are going to achieve each of the goals you have set.

Affirmations
To capitalize on the power of belief, create further extensions of your goals. To create powerful affirmations that work, I recommend the following formula: Remodel your goals by writing them in the first person, present tense, as if they have already been achieved.

Using the personal pronoun, "I", restructure them. For example, if the goal reads "I want to weigh 62 kilograms", re-script it to read "I weigh 62 kilograms". Other examples include: "I have $20 000 in the bank" and "I am enjoying Disneyland with my children". Also, "I enjoy arriving on time for appointments."

"Faith calls the things that are not as though they are."
- Romans 4:17

By scripting and affirming affirmations that suggest your goals have already been achieved, you will create a cognitive dissonance. Simply put, your nervous system cannot deal with the dissonance, or the conflict that occurs with two diametrically opposed self-talk statements. For example, two conflicting self-talk statements such as "I weigh 102 kilograms and am fat" and "I weigh 82 kilograms and am fit", when repeated with the same emotional intensity, will cancel each other out (double-mindedness produces nothing). When through repetition and emotional intensity, however, the affirmation "I weigh 82 kilograms and am fit" becomes the stronger of the two simultaneous realities, your nervous system will accept this as truth and will displace the previous. At this point, this present tense statement will alert your chief engineer to cut the thrashers in the fat department.

Script your smart goals to suggest you are already this person and that you have already achieved each of your desired outcomes.

Finding Inspiration and Motivation

We live in a world that is complex and chaotic, and if we're not careful, we can easily lose inspiration and motivation to carry on with our lives. All is not lost, though, for there are still plenty of sources from which we can derive strength and positivity in spite of the challenges that come our way. Below are five examples of such sources to help you in your personal and professional lives.

1. Read biographies. A biography of a successful person is always a great source of inspiration and motivation, especially if that person is someone you truly admire. In that narrative, you can glean ideas on how he was able to rise above challenges, address his critics, and ascertain what tools and skills he needed to make it in his chosen field and evolve into a positive influence for millions of his admirers. A biography can also give you an insider's look at the industry you're hoping to break into, so go ahead and invest in one to nourish your mind and soul with each inspiring page.

2. Watch the news. Believe it or not, even the most depressing news has been a source of inspiration and motivation for a number of people who ended up making a difference in this world. News about war, disease and a host of other tragic events have moved countless people into pitching in and helping out the victims of all sorts of calamities, natural or mad-made. Even the image of one child in a war-torn country can ignite a person to start a charity drive, and make him realize that charity work might be his true calling. This is proof that the news can still be an agent for positive influence in today's world.

3. Watch an animated movie. You might initially scoff at this suggestion for sounding so childish, but a cartoon film can be a surprising source of inspiration and motivation. The story alone can move an adult to look back at his childhood days when he had all these hopes, dreams and plans, and when his imagination was at its craziest and most active. Let the positive influence of an animated movie bring out the child in you. It just might revive the old spark that will serve as the catalyst of your greatest and best ideas!

4. Take a walk. Shut down your computer, dust off those old sneakers or boots, and take at least a thirty minute walk in your neighborhood. If you're feeling adventurous and have time to spare, go the city and take a nice stroll in the park. Let your mind wander as you observe your surroundings - the people, the scenery, the sky above you, the sound of modern living coupled with the creatures of Mother Nature. Open your mind to the inspiration and motivation that could very well hit you when you spot something particularly interesting. There's no telling when exactly you will get that "Aha!" moment, so it's best to be prepared by clearing your mind first.

5. Listen to music. Music, especially the soothing kind, is a positive influence on our souls and minds. Listening to your favorite happy tunes while you're doing your chores, jogging, walking your pet or even while soaking in the tub can spark creativity in you and set the stage for inspiration and motivation for your next great idea. Who knows, you might even arrive at an epiphany thanks to the very lyrics themselves, so start singing along to really appreciate the message of the song.

Finding that "positive push" should come easy if you free your mind of all negativity and focus on the good things that Life has to offer. Believe that you have a purpose, find that purpose and use it to leave your mark in this world.

The universe provides us with plenty of sources for inspiration and motivation. Learn today where you can find them and use them as a positive influence in your life.

The Right People Need No Motivation

Jim Collins, the world famous management guru, has said that "if you have the right people on your bus, you don't need to worry about motivating them". As a friend of mine said, "Does this mean that employee motivation programs are useless?" It would seem so - if only we could get our recruitment right, then we would employ a whole bunch of self-starters who would not need to be motivated by management. Wow, would that save costs? Yes. So this sounds like a good - no, great - idea, but is it?

My own view is that there is a truth in what Jim Collins says, but that he isn't exactly right either.

In the first instance we need to take the problem back a frame. Most people hire on the basis of qualifications and experience, often forgetting that high energy, which is effectively high motivation, is the number one factor for outperformance. So attracting and recruiting these people in the first place makes sense - but how are we to do that? It is not easy to establish in the first instance who are the genuinely motivated types of people; one thing we do know is that most people at interviews appear motivated, and furthermore that being superb at interviews usually means that one is great at interviews rather than being great for the role that one is being interviewed for!

But then having got these people, the notion that they continue to remain motivated if you do nothing about them is lamentable - sure, like the Duracell bunny, they'll run longer and more effectively than the non-motivated people you initially recruited, BUT they still need input - less input than the non-motivated people, but input nevertheless. Furthermore, although it could be argued that such very effective people are self-starters, the benefit of inputs is also aligned with reading their minds - if you don't input you are not likely to really find out what is going on inside their head - and bingo, the self-starter up and leaves because there is no engagement with him or her.

Thus it is imperative to provide the most motivated with even more reasons to be motivated; and that leads on to the reason of reasons - namely, the best people always have it in them to want to be better - so helping them really gets them and you up to the very highest levels of performance, and at the same time gets more buy-in, more staying power in the relationship - thereby reducing turnover costs.

The truth is - the obvious truth is - things change, and that includes especially motivation. We all know of high performing, highly motivated men and women who once were outperformers but have now fallen by the wayside, as it were, and become, in some instances, positive liabilities. What happened to them? Many things can happen to them - simple burnout for one thing; neglect for another; and yet for another just lack of meaning or core purpose - why am I doing this when I never see my family from one month's end to another?

So, yes, recruit the highly motivated - that's god advice from Jim Collins. But don't imagine job done! Motivation is like physical fitness: wherever you are on the scale of it, you need constant and persistent inputs stay fit, to stay motivated. True, the self-motivated can provide a lot of this for themselves, but let's be sure: management has a lot to offer to keep performance really high.

Make Your Life Better and More Productive With These Motivation Tips

I used to reach material goals and just say to myself, ok, I've got it so now what? In the end it was fun to have what I worked for and wanted, but the gain of the material soon fell flat. It is about who you become, what you learn, who comes into your life, your relationships. It is ultimately about who you become and what you learn in the process. We all know now it is not the material that will satisfy you and make you happy it is inside of you where the joy is. It is in helping others. It is in contributing to making the world a better place.

Use books and seminars and digital products related to personal growth, encouragement, meditation to learn about what you need to practice and take action on to develop every area of your life. Be prepared to spend time in developing yourself. This is a process and a practice. The time spent doesn't have to be all consuming. What ever time you put towards this practice will reap you great rewards. You can do great things in your life with even just a half an hour a day. How much time do you spend sitting in traffic. How much time are you in the car anyway? You can plug into some great mentors while you are driving. Time well spent. Do you know if you spend 30 minutes in the car per day just 5 days a week that equals 2.5 hours in a week. That is over 3 forty hour work weeks per year. I'll bet you spend more time than that in the car.

Keeping your home and office free of clutter will go a long way in your mental clarity. The mess confuses the mind and drains your energy. For me clutter control is an evolving process. This is not just about the clutter that you can see I am also speaking about the junk drawers and messy closets and bureau drawers. If your stuff doesn't have some organization you will spend more time looking for stuff. Organize and save time in the long run. This doesn't have to be done all at once. Just do one small section everyday or pick something on the weekend. The point is to just begin. When you start to clear the spaces of your home of the extra stuff you will feel lighter. If you have trouble with this, engage a friend and help each other. Hire someone, there are people that offer this service in their business.

What Lies Behind Your Motivation?

Do you ever find yourself powering through paperwork or filing, despite the fact that you don't really want to do it? It's almost like you're being driven by some internal force to get it done?

Or you always automatically wash the dishes and clean the kitchen up after dinner, despite really just wanting to chill in front of the TV with a glass of wine?

When we're driven to do things, it's a strong indication of what's important to us deep down. And what's important to us is down to our internal values, the things that motivate us in advance.

We all have values, and they all differ from everyone else. They are like your very own personal motivators, and once you know what your values are in a certain context like your career or business, it can really help you focus on, and spend your energy on, what is intrinsically important to you.

If you're doing something that is not actually within your value set, for example an activity or task, you'll find that it is much harder to motivate yourself to actually do it, and it may well be one of those never-ending tasks on your to-do list or action plan that never gets done.

Discovering your values can be a fascinating exercise, and one that will explain a lot to you in terms of your internal drive. Most values are unconscious, and we are unaware of them to a large extent. If you want to find out what your values in the context of your career or business are, then follow these 3 easy steps:
Take yourself off to a very quiet corner with a pen and paperAsk yourself the following question: 'in the context of my career or business, what's important to me?'.Write down your answers as quickly and honestly as possible, thereby allowing you to be answering unconsciously as opposed to consciously.

Once you do this exercise, you may well be surprised by what it is that appears on the list. (It's worth doing this exercise regularly, as values may change depending on circumstance. Then you can ask yourself if you're fulfilling your values, and if not, what can you do to change it so that you are. If your career or business is meeting your values within that context, you'll find that the journey is a much smoother and congruent one. Our goals also tend to be easier to hit, as they are in line with our values, and therefore our internal drive and motivation.

Make your journey to success smoother - give yourself some valuable time to spend on your values!

Words Of Motivation: The Rise Of Lewis Hamilton

During the 2011 Formula 1 racing season, the young British driver Lewis Hamilton had a tough time and he was badly in need of words of motivation. A troubled relationship with girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger disturbed the concentration of the normally focused Hamilton and continued bad reactions to his normal aggressive but highly entertaining driving style meant that he ended up in front of race stewards on several occasions. On one occasion he even joked with reporters saying "I have a platinum members card to the stewards area."

Hamilton clearly found his own words of motivation as at the Abu Dhabi race, the penultimate one of the 2011 season, he pulled ahead of the other drivers and stayed there to win: just another chapter in one of those short inspiring stories we all love to hear.

Lewis Hamilton was born nearly 27 years ago on 7 January 1985 to a white British mother, Carmen Larbalestier, and Anthony Hamilton whose parents had come over from Grenada in the 1950s. Lewis was named after the sprinter Carl Lewis and was looked after by his mother for ten years after 1987 when his parents spilt up.

Eventually Lewis was brought up by his father and stepmother. It was during this time his interest in racing really took off. In 1991 Anthony bought his son a radio-controlled car and Lewis came second in the BRDA national championships against adult competitors. It was at this event that Lewis first came to the attention of the BBC and he was featured on the first of several occasions by the popular Blue Peter programme.

Many sports are very expensive and motor racing is no exception. One of the inspirational messages to come out of Lewis Hamilton's story is the fact that he is the first successful Formula 1 driver to come from relatively humble beginnings. Much of this is as a result of Anthony Hamilton's commitment on the early days: he told his son he would support him in his ambitions just as long as Lewis worked hard at school.

Lewis did work hard at school - and at sports too. He represented his school at both football and cricket and feels he could have become a professional footballer if racing had not worked out.

During his motor racing career, Lewis Hamilton has suffered racial abuse and bullying but has survived both with a solid resolve. Interestingly his words of motivation may come from his experiences at school where he was bullied and took up karate to overcome this.

As his part of the bargain, Anthony Hamilton took redundancy from his job as an IT manager to become a contractor. At one stage he even had to work three jobs at a time to support his son's burgeoning career. Anthony's determination eventually led to his own IT company and indeed his ability to pass on words of motivation to Lewis helped him to become his son's manager. He has developed this by providing inspirational messages to and becoming manager to the new up-and-coming British Formula 1 driver, Paul DiResta.

Lewis Hamilton graduated to karting at the age of eight years old and he continued his success in that arena.

During the 1995 Autosports Awards ceremony the team principle of the McLaren Formula 1 team, Ron Dennis, was signing autographs when he was approached by a small ten-year-old boy. The boy looked up at him and said "Hi. I'm Lewis Hamilton. I won the British Championship and one day I want to be racing your cars." Dennis said nothing but instead wrote these words of motivation in the book: "Phone me in nine years, we'll sort something out then."

In fact, it was only three years later that, after Lewis had won his second British karting title, Ron Dennis rang him to sign Lewis on to the McLaren development programme. This included the option for the 13-year-old to drive in Formula 1 in the future.

In 2001 Lewis competed against and impressed the Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher before moving into the Formula Renault racing series. He began his climb through the racing formulae.

Lewis Hamilton finally got the drive he wanted in a Formula 1 car in 2007, getting a third place in his first race. This was the beginning of a record-breaking career. He became the youngest driver ever to lead the world championship and, in 2008, Lewis finally became the youngest Formula 1 World Champion.

Another constant supporter of his racing career and provider of inspirational messages is Lewis' brother, Nicholas. Nicholas has cerebral palsy but has just started his own career racing in the Renault Clio Cup. He is often at Formula 1 races with his father cheering Lewis on and offering words of motivation. At the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix, Nicholas was filmed scowling as his brother had to serve another penalty from the stewards.

Perhaps a couple of reasons for the continued appeal of Lewis Hamilton, apart from his obvious driving ability, are his humanity and his sheer determination. His partnership with another former World Champion, Jensen Button, at McLaren has shown the pair to have a great sense of humour that converts to a will to win on the track.

It would be too easy to think that Lewis Hamilton is lucky in the lifestyle he has. The reality is that both he and his father have, and still do, made considerable sacrifices and shown great perseverance to get to this position. There are many inspirational messages to be found in this story.

One last inspirational message. Lewis Hamilton has been criticized for his aggressive driving style but I recall one other driver suffering the same comments: and that was seven times World Champion Michael Schumacher.

Motivation Is the Key But Success Is Up to Me

Everyone dreams about what they want to do or have in their life. The question sometimes is how do I get there? The answer to the question could seem to be complex but it is rather simple. The answer is in two parts explained in one statement: Motivation is the key but Success is up to me. Let's break down this statement so that you will understand that your dreams are merely steps away from being a reality.

Motivation is the key. Motivation is the driving force that energizes us to push forward towards a goal. Motivation is internal and/or external as well as positive and/or negative. You can get words of encouragement from your family and friends. You can get discouraging words from your family and friends. You can accomplish one goal that drives you to push on to your next goal. You can fail in reaching a goal. Motivation is similar to fuel. When someone drives a car, they need fuel. When you set a goal, you need motivation. Other elements are needed such as persistence and perseverance just as you need oil, transmission fluid and coolant for a car. Yet, that car will not move until you have fuel. You need motivation of all types to fuel your tank. The point is: it does not matter if motivation is just from you or if it is positive or negative from others. Embrace it and use it to drive you to your goal. Motivation is the key but...

Success is up to me. So now you have this fuel in your tank. Use it. Do it. You have to believe that you will accomplish your goal. This is worth repeating: YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOAL. Regardless of whom you are or what you know, you and only you can and must have faith in yourself. An abundance of motivation will do you know good if you don't believe you can do it. You simply must proceed on your journey to success. A full tank of gas in a car is useless if the car is not driven. Furthermore, with no direction, the fuel is wasted. You must have a specific goal. You must have a plan to achieve that goal. Failure along the way is always relevant and real. Failure is not defeat unless you choose it to be. Believe that you can accomplish your goal and you will be able to embrace failure. You will not be afraid to fail. You must not be afraid to fail. Failure is nothing more than motivation.

Motivation is the key but Success is up to me!

Motivation - The Driving Force Behind Everything

Motivation is the driving force behind human beings. It could be summarized as simply as the basic need to minimize physical pain and maximize pleasure or it may include specific needs such as eating and resting, personal desires and goals. It's very hard to have a set formula for motivation, as many different people are motivated by different things. There's 2 basic types of motivations.

Intrinsic. This type of motivation exists within the individual, and requires no external pressures. Intrinsically motivated people find it easy to motivate themselves to achieve desirable results. Intrinsically motivated people also tend to believe they have the skill that will allow them to be effective agents in reaching desired goals. They also are interested in mastering a topic, rather than just role-learning to achieve good grades

Extrinsic. This type of motivation comes from sources outside of ourselves. Common extrinsic motivations are rewards like money, grades and competition. Competition encourages the performer to win and beat others, not to enjoy the intrinsic rewards of the activity. A crowd cheering for the individual and trophies earned are also extrinsic motives.

It's not uncommon for someone to be both intrinsically, and extrinsically motivated especially when it comes to fitness. Some individuals are in it purely for themselves, while others love the competition which makes them strive to push themselves. Once you determine what you're motivated by, it's easy to set realistic goals and motivate yourself towards them. Here's some easy ways to help you stay motivated and working towards your fitness goals year-round.

Set Realistic Short and Long Term Goals. This is very important because without goals, there's less motivation to stick with a routine. Long term goals could be anything from running a 5k, to something more significant such as losing 50 lbs. It's best to break large goals down into smaller, more easily achieved short term goals like running 3 times this week, or going through this whole week without cheating on your diet. Once these things are established as habits, they become a staple of your daily routine.

Reward Yourself. I'm not going to go into great detail here. If you're new to starting a diet and exercise routine the hardest part may be giving up all the comfort foods you've come to enjoy. This is true for everyone, myself included. I still have craving for chocolate milk, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. So what do I do when the cravings kick in? I splurge on them after a particularly grueling workout session, or after I've accomplished a certain goal I was shooting for. One or Two cheat meals a week is acceptable, reward yourself when you feel like you've earned it. This will motivate you to work hard to get the things you really want.

Communicate with People with Similar Interests. This is going to be particularly important for people motivated by competition and the social experience of working out in a group. Many gyms offer classes that you can attend with other people, such as cycling, yoga, or dancing. You can join internet forums and websites as well. There's many fitness websites and blogs out there just like this one you can subscribe to. The goal is to meet people you can talk to, and share experiences with. There is infinite knowledge that can be gained this way.

Break your Workouts into Shorter, Higher Intensity Ones. If you're a busy person and have trouble making time for workouts you can utilize this option. You can get the same hormonal response in 2-5 minutes of training that you can in a 60 minute session. A good rule of thumb is to do as much quality work as possible, while remaining as fresh as possible. This option also allows for multiple training sessions per day as your body becomes more accustomed to exercise.

Start a Collection of Motivational Quotes and Videos. I'd like to think this is pretty self-explanatory. Find quotes that speak to you on a personal level, and commit them to memory. When you're having trouble motivating yourself repeat the quote in your head and see if it helps. Here's a couple good examples worth sharing. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit" - Aristotle. "Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you." - Ralph Waldo Emerson. "Success must be felt within before it can be seen on the outside." - Anonymous. "There are plenty of difficult obstacles in your path. Don't allow yourself to become one of them." - Ralph Marston

Have fun with it. This is probably the most under-rated motivator of them all. Find sports or exercises that you enjoy and create plans around them. You'll be much more likely to stick with a plan that you find interesting and fun to do. There's many forms of exercise out there, it should be easy to find something you enjoy doing!

I really hope this article helps you stay motivated and on track with your fitness goals. Remember to look at how you're motivated to better understand how to get yourself up and moving. Everything is about making small, consistent changes over time. This will yield great results in time, all you have to do is stick with it. Experiment with different workouts and exercises to determine what you enjoy doing, and allow yourself to enjoy the comfort foods you miss from time to time. All of these things will help you along your fitness journey.
