How To Stop Negative Self-Talk

Every day I witness a tremendous amount of negative talk regarding how people feel about themselves and I see the consequences. It is the continuous stream of destructive self-talk and negative thoughts that prevent us from reaching our fullest potential - potential that is just waiting there for you.

What is important to note here is: the thoughts we think determine the outcome of our lives. You are a product of your environment. What you think, what you believe, all equate to what manifests in your life.

Guess what conducts your life experience? The Grand Master: CHOICE.

You get to choose the thoughts you think. It's easy to go negative because we have been trained and continue to train ourselves to focus on our perceived limitations and more. But what about going positive? What about truly knowing that you are an amazing worthwhile and an inherently beautiful person who deserves to have all that is good in this world?

Most people are habitually very self-critical. And these habitual negative thoughts play out in our lives in a multitude of ways. Negative thinking is a habit and all habits can be changed. Habits require very little thought process and no will power--they are effortless and automatic.

Implement these three success keys to create the life you desire:

-Break larger goals into small steps.

To create new habits, start with small steps. For example, if you are trying to stop the habit of negative self-talk, instead of stopping a habit cold turkey, resolve to immediately shift to positive self-talk once a day for a week - increase this week by week. The action of shifting to positive self-talk will then create success for you and that success will motivate you to move forward until it becomes automatic and thus, a different life experience.

-Be Consistent.

Consistency is key as the daily practice will create stronger neuronal connections which then allow the new positive behavior to become automatic - a habit. Every time you think a negative thought - replace it with a positive one.

-Start a Journal.

The act of writing down your thoughts will help not only with stress reduction, but will help you to objectively see where self-criticism and negative thinking enter into your life. This information is vital in creating a new paradigm for you.

You are what you think. By purposefully making a choice to stay away from negative thoughts, you will see a whole new world open up to you. Remember, what you think about you and your world is what your life experience will become. So if you feel you are not worthwhile in any capacity..then guess what? Your life experience will be less than what you deserve. However, if you choose to think differently by making a decision to focus on what is good in your life, what you want to have happen and to think more positively, you will then live the life you love.
